“My paintings named Timebomb 1 to 4 reflect my despair about our planet’s state. Ocean pollution with condom floating in the water and other waste, the climate change with the ice melting above the grenade represents the hidden part of the iceberg. All because of our disdain for the future and lack of imagination.

It is challenging to stay optimistic in such terrible times, with people such as Bolsonaro, Trump, Putin, and so many others caring about power, money but with no empathy for the people and no solutions.
Plastic World represents our World, artificial and polluted, with a collection of waste covering our beaches. The man with a monkey head is the image of what men want to be, strong, alpha looking for hopeless love through a platform like tinder. The Child is our innocent-looking into the sky with hope. But the old man with the evolution of humankind sitting on his arm knows better and cry.

With the World’s population still growing and politics not playing its role in cleaning the air, the water, and finding a new way to feed the earth, we are doomed.”

Conservation is a known buzzword in today’s times. Despite the line being divided between believing in global warming or not, many people still understand the need to be educated and responsible for their own carbon footprint. Choosing to purchase from environmentally friendly companies, making recycling a priority, and working to conserve energy are ways many people contribute daily to conserving our world.

The amazing result of being part of preserving the earth and the world around us is the genuine good that our physical and emotional health benefit from too.

Artists have intuitively understood that being environmentally conscious creates positive psychological benefits for ourselves and others. Master Surreal Abstract Expressionist, Eric Hubbes, has long been fascinated by psychology and the influence of the subconscious on our actions.

His work designed to help the viewer feel connected to the universe is heavily influenced by natural sciences. There are so many places in our lives where we feel self-doubts including our own unique global impact. Hubbes art brings together the impact of self-doubt into something life-affirming and creates art come out of it.

“Plastic World”, 2020, Oil Painting, 140 x 100

The list of benefits for being an active part of creating a better planet is longer than the list of why we can’t. Artists like Eric Hubbes stand out to create something that not only helps bring beauty, wonder, and imagination back into the world but to bring awareness to the fact that global issues affect every aspect of our lives.

In our hearts, all want to see the world preserved for the generations to come. We have a choice of how we will speak and act regarding the real-world environmental needs we all are facing. Eric Hubbes is standing with humanity to give a voice to our world. It’s time to choose where we will stand, together for unity and global environmental impact, or extinction.
