It seems that the world needed a young, teenage activist who would wake us up to the consequences of global warming and climate change. That’s precisely what Greta Thunberg has done. She managed to awaken humanity to a new awareness by sending a strong message and being persistent. Greta Thunberg stood up for her cause and refused to quit gaining respect from world leaders, activists, artists, children, teenagers, millennials, and older adults worldwide. Greta is a reminder that we should all stop for a second and think about the world that we are leaving to our children and grandchildren.

Greta has traveled the world, spreading her message, always choosing to use eco-friendly ways of traveling with her family, thus making a statement with her every move. Most recently, she was in Alberta, Canada, where she lead a climate strike rally. Her following stop was a climate strike rally in Vancouver. September and October were mostly dedicated to speeches in North America. But Greta does not plan to stop there. Her plans are to participate at the COP25 meetings but the UN announced on Friday that Spain would be the host for next month’s COP25, since Chile gave up plans to hold it due to deadly anti-government protests. Some 25,000 delegates are expected to travel to the event.The Swedish teenager is currently seeking help getting back to Europe following the COP25 meeting’s move from Chile to Spain. Thunberg, who abstains to fly due to the carbon emissions involved, has been travelling by boat, train and electric car when the news for a new venue was announced.
“It turns out I’ve travelled half around the world, the wrong way:)…If anyone could help me find transport I would be so grateful,” she tweeted from Los Angeles.
Great Thunberg arrived in New York for the UN climate summit in August after a fourteen-day journey across the Atlantic Ocean in a sailing boat. Since then she has moved via train and an electric car borrowed from Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Her speach at the summit made headlines for her scolding world’s leaders for their inaction on the climate crisis “This is all wrong, I shouldn’t be up here. I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean.” “Yet, you all come to us young people for hope. How dare you. You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words. And yet I’m one of the lucky ones.”-

Greta has been inspiration for many artists and curators around the world. British artist Michael Pinsky invited her to visit his latest work called Pollution Pods, that has been influenced by Greta’s message. Pollution Pods have been installed in front of the United Nations building. They consist of six chambers that represent air quality in big cities such as London and Beijing. Street artists around the world joined to help her and make her cause more visible. Art often speaks louder than words, and it is great when artists support such an important cause.
Young Greta Thunberg has been a very much needed wake up call as well as call to action. She inspired so many people who are now thinking of ways to help and to contribute to stopping climate change. She managed to do all this thanks to her commitment, honesty and persistance.
