About the Artist

Hsi Chun Huang
Creating portraits and scenes that are lifelike, Taiwanese artist and Art Educator Hsi Chun Huang is a master of realism and vibrant expressions of color. The accomplished painter is particularly known for his detailed watercolor paintings of intimate moments between people captured in public settings. Every wisp of hair and fiber of clothing is rendered to perfection, with careful details that stand out in sometimes blurred away images within each scene. Bold, warm color tones overpower each image, resulting in warm and soothing moments that invite his viewer to step into the life of another. Light is used as an element that infuses his work with different directions of entry, playing a role with how Chung paints the rhythm through each line. Backgrounds are subtly distorted through the movement of his brush on the surfaces of objects, and layers creating a unique result of both expressionism and photo-realistic images.
