Lisa Saltzman blurs between the lines exhibiting photography with a unique approach to revealing people in an Urban Landscape. Her series of work entitled “City Anonymity”, is characterized by two main elements, the central figure(s) and the surrounding environment that supports it. Regarding depicting the figures, she has a subtle and elegant technique that parallels the anonymity suggested in the titled, as she shoots moving figures without focusing, resulting in fluid silhouettes that roam more freely within the composition, having a spectral rather than a robust status within the work. The environment has a similar aesthetic, as she has once again unfocused, blurry shapes that dominate the scene. Textures and details become flat tonal planes, while the staircases become dynamic lines within the composition due to their abstraction.
