ArtTour International Artist of the Week
An artist who balances between reality and fantasy. The artworks of Marta Promińska are surrealistic visions full of hypnagogic figures and landscapes. The paintings show the moment of transition between life and death, engaging her viewers and evoking questions about existence. Depicting feelings, a process of internal change. She uses only traditional techniques of oil painting and ink drawings.
What are you currently focusing on?
“Currently, I am focusing on workshop development, I am studying old master’s techniques, history of color, pigment characteristics. I just started several canvases (I paint parallel because of the long paint drying process). There will also be a series of landscape images. “
Have you experienced any significant changes in your work this last year?
“I am focusing on creating and developing my own style. There will be no significant change, only deeper awareness of my own artistic way. “
Where are you from, and how has that influenced your art?
“I grew up in the city of Zamość, which was designed by Bernardo Morando as an ideal renaissance city. The historical context had a great influence on my artistic development. Now I live and create in Warsaw, where there are many interesting exhibitions and art events.”
“Art is awareness
There is no greater reality than the image of your thoughts
Art is a space of freedom
Art should cause inspiration
Art should cause natural reactions, not limited by historical or sociological background
Art should be the source of deepest feelings
Art should be a Value”
