About the Artist
Paul Uyehara
The late Paul Uyehara found his path as a master artist in exploring the language of color through his abstract interpretations of master compositions from those who came before him. Intrigued by the influence and meaning of color in all aspects of life and art, he embodied a creative sense of adventure that continues to live in the legacy of his diverse career. He explored various techniques and mediums, including but not limited to, sculpting, drawing, painting, and photography. Painting in Los Angeles since the 1960’s Uyehara was actively involved as an artist in his community continuously in search of new methods and philosophies in the relationship between shape and color. His work brings attention to the dynamic ingenuity that is superbly burgeoning in the natural, figurative, and abstract realms. Through his striking abstract works, Uyehara was able to elucidate the sentiments of clarity and directness that’s arguably unparalleled in contemporary works.
