About the Artist

Pia Buxbom
Pia Buxbom

Pia Buxbom is a creative activist from Denmark, she makes intricate scenes in 3D sculptures and large scale oils on canvas. These scenes show a refreshing depiction of symbolic imagery in objects, and geometric shapes often allowing each metaphorically charged sculpture to focus on her message as she steers away from colors, and embraces the neutral mood set by the organic tones of her media including bronze, and copper. Buxbom discusses socio-economic issues, environmental preservation, gender equality, as well as inspirational ideas from her life experiences, and desire to promote self-empowerment. A curious mind, and heart Buxbom enjoys her travels as a source of her creativity, often influenced by different cultures and belief structures around the world.
