Gather up Bowie fans, it’s time to celebrate. Ripley’s Art Center Celebrates David Bowie! This year marks the anniversary of Space Oddity, David Bowie’s revolutionary success of 1969, as well as the anniversary of the Free Festival and the Beckenham Arts Lab, a collective of creative moguls who offered a platform for creative expression in the suburbs and beyond, and it was ultimately the launchpad for Bowie’s success.
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Ripley Arts Center on Sundridge Avenue is having an exhibition celebrating David Bowie and the spirit of the Arts Lab.
Participating artist Sara Sumelah said: “It will be a beautiful and joyful celebration of all of Bowie’s things in the place where he became the star he was meant to be.”
He said the entire Ripley Arts Center will be dedicated to David Bowie while the numerous works of art explore its many facets, a collective group of visual artists will all be dedicating their pieces to commemorate the impact Bowie’s career made on pop culture.
The Bowie art exhibition is from November 15th to December 20th.
