Buzzing with excitement on May 17, 2019, the Viviana Puello Gallery in New York City gathered an international audience for the “ROOTS” juried group exhibition opening reception. Celebrating “Roots” encourages us to look into our family history and ancestry and into that which influences who we are. Roots are about personal identity and how multiculturalism enriches our communities and can help path a way to the next generations. Artists took to their approach for the concept; the night was filled with traditional art from across the world, ancestral honoring inspired paintings, modern architectural displays, as well as intimate visual narratives into the lifespan of humanity. Fashion did not fall behind as guests showed off their backgrounds through unique garments as well as celebratory cultural music.
Participating artist included Evadi, Knichka, Howard Harris, Ayano Ishiyama, Finnur Frodason, Viviana Puello, Allison BarrowsYoung, JeongAh Zhang, Raymond Westraadt, Ric conn, Tami Mitt, Sonia, Vera Tsepkova, Wendy Cohen, and Wendy Yeo. The four winning artists of the night included Knichka, Howard Harris, Evadi, and Raymond Westraadt.
