About the Artist

Inspired by a desire to express the beauty of the natural world, Thérèse Boisclair paints the atmospheric sensations of landscapes in alluring abstract works. She enjoys combining the bold colors of acrylic painting with the fragility of tissue paper to achieve myriad textures, unexpected patterns, and varied translucent effects. “I worked with watercolors for about 18 years when I discovered painting with acrylic on tissue paper. The strength of the colors and the fragility of the tissue paper captured my readiness for a challenge. I use the acrylic as I would use the watercolor while using its many techniques.
Light, transparency, fluidity, texture, and bold colors are the main components of my paintings. I let the water that I spray on the paper mix the colors to achieve effects that often surprise me. My abstract landscapes will allow your mind to wander, and my paintings are guided by my emotions. When I paint, my hand is governed by a force that gets transferred on the delicate paper. The following explosion of colors touches each viewer in a personal way. In each painting, this is not what you are looking at that will touch you, but what you see.”
