Following an Inner Current

For Angelė Šimoliūnienė, a painting begins with a sensation. Inspiration arrives as energy, and the hand follows an intuitive current toward forms whose meaning may reveal itself later. Her images become places to explore the complexity of human emotion and the spiritual dimensions of life.

From Lithuania, Angelė has loved drawing since childhood. While teaching Lithuanian language and literature, she enrolled at the Music Academy to study directing. Studies in art history and an interest in philosophy and psychology widened the questions she brought to her creative life.

Color Between Light and Consciousness

In Weight of Life, a vivid red form edged with yellow meets flowing green passages against turquoise blue. Its forceful presence can feel both weighted and alive, holding an emotional tension that remains open to interpretation.

Together for Life offers a gentler rhythm. Pale blue and white curves gather around deeper blue and violet, suggesting currents that approach, overlap, and continue beyond the frame. Both works, painted in acrylic on paper in 2025, make color an expressive partner in Angelė’s search.

Her paintings reflect a belief in visible and invisible forces, and in the influence of positive and negative energies on human experience. Through symbolic, layered motifs, she invites a metaphysical dialogue between light and consciousness. These ideas belong to her personal artistic vision, giving viewers a space to consider their own relationship with the unseen.

Letting the Paintings Go into the World

Angelė compares her creations to children: precious presences brought into being, then released to follow their own paths. It is a tender image of what happens when a deeply personal practice meets another person’s gaze.

Her paintings have traveled through an extensive exhibition life, including sixty-five solo exhibitions in Lithuania and participation in galleries and expos abroad. Yet the intimate exchange remains central. In Intervention of Natural Forces, green and pale yellow strokes move across a darker ground with an almost feathered softness, drawing attention toward the feeling carried by each gesture.

Angelė Šimoliūnienė offers paintings that welcome contemplation without requiring a single reading. Their luminous movement invites us to stand before them, listen to our own response, and discover what color might bring into view.
