The Beauty Within Reach
A sky opens around a burst of sunlight. A snowy brook curves between bare trees. In Alma Kyger Adams’s photographs, the natural world offers moments worth holding onto. Based in Stamford, Texas, Alma turns her attention to the beauty around her, with a particular fascination for Utah’s landscapes.
Her camera is the phone she has with her. A view from an apartment porch or the backseat of a friend’s pickup truck can become the beginning of a photograph. This closeness to everyday life gives her images a personal warmth: each carries the feeling of being there, noticing something, and responding before the moment passes.

Light, Landscape, and Imagination
In The Lords Chalice, photographed from the porch of her Utah apartment around 2019, sunlight breaks through a gathering of clouds. Bright edges glow against a blue sky, while deeper shadows give the clouds volume and weight. The photograph holds a fleeting arrangement of light—one of those moments when looking upward becomes an experience of wonder.

Electric Breezeway brings a different energy. Alma photographed the scene in Bryce Canyon, Utah, in July 2021 while on her honeymoon. Using Prisma Art Effect Photo Editor, she transformed the photograph into a landscape alive with blue light and glowing contours. The rock formations retain their presence while taking on a dreamlike intensity, bringing observation and imagination together.
In Winter Brook, a ribbon of water moves through a snowy landscape beneath a richly colored sky. Bare trees interrupt the open white ground, and distant hills draw the eye toward the horizon. Captured from the backseat of a friend’s vehicle, the image gives a passing view a lasting sense of stillness. Its quiet rhythm offers another expression of Alma’s instinct for timing.

A Creative Life, Carried Forward
Alma’s creative life also includes a website she built in 2021 and a book she published in 2023. She carries forward the wedding business left to her by her late mother, Donna Buckles Jaster, whose wedding magazine was published in Las Vegas for 18 years.
Across Alma’s photographs, a generous sense of wonder remains. Light, weather, and terrain become personal encounters with the world. Her images encourage us to pause within our own daily journeys, to notice what is unfolding around us, and to recognize how much beauty a single attentive moment can hold.
