Fernando Botero: A Legacy in Art and Form

Fernando Botero.

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Fernando Botero, one of the most beloved artists to emerge from Colombia and leave an indelible mark on the global art scene. At the age of 91, he has left us with a legacy that stretches far beyond his humble origins in Medellín. Botero’s distinctive style, with its plump and exaggerated forms, was immediately recognizable and celebrated. From politicians to animals, saints to scenes from his own childhood, he imbued his subjects with a whimsical and vibrant quality that captured the imagination of art lovers worldwide.
