The Language of Presence
In the evolving language of contemporary abstraction, artists have long sought to move beyond representation—toward something more essential. From the primal immediacy of prehistoric cave markings to the spiritual investigations of early modernists such as Kandinsky and Klee, and later the gestural freedom of postwar abstraction, this pursuit has taken many forms. Yet in recent decades, abstraction has often shifted toward conceptual systems or digital mediation.
Heinz Marzohl enters this continuum from a different direction.
