A Creative Dialogue with Human Depth
Against a vivid yellow field, a face emerges from dense black texture. Above it, angular lettering stretches across the composition, its sharp points giving the image an almost electric tension. In Stan Dark Art, Christophe Szpajdel’s collaboration with Stanislav Krawczyk, known as Stan Dark Art, brings graphic intensity into close conversation with human presence.
Working together under the name Dark Art Tandem, Christophe and Stanislav have created thousands of collaborative artworks over the past ten years. Their partnership brings two distinctive creative practices together, opening a shared space for expression, resilience, and connection.
Letterforms with a Life of Their Own
Christophe is known for logo designs for Emperor and Moonspell, as well as a logo for Rihanna showcased at the MTV VMA Awards in 2016. His work gives lettering a striking visual identity, inviting the eye to explore the shape and energy of a name.
Made with pen, ink, colored pencils, and digital collage, Stan Dark Art carries that energy into a textured portrait composition. The luminous yellow heightens the force of the black marks. The lettering commands attention, while the partially shadowed face draws us toward a more intimate encounter. Together, these elements create a work that feels both forceful and personal.
A Personal Language of Resilience
Born in Mykolaiv, Stanislav has lived in Hollywood for more than fifteen years, creating portraits of numerous celebrities. Living with cerebral palsy, he spent much of his youth in hospitals, where art became an escape. Drawing offered a way to give form to experience and to develop a visual language of his own.
His black-and-white style reflects lifelong struggles, bringing personal history into the marks on the page. That history gives the partnership an emotional depth: behind the graphic force is an artist whose relationship with creation has been sustained through difficult circumstances.
A Shared Commitment to Dignity and Freedom
For ArtTour International’s fifteenth anniversary edition, Christophe wishes to celebrate the partnership’s shared commitment to supporting Ukraine. Dignity, freedom, and resilience are central to the story he wants this collaboration to carry.
Their plans include four book projects: The Dark Art Tandem, The Book of Irin, The Book of Vampira, and The Book of Natasha. These projects continue a creative dialogue that has already taken shape across thousands of works.
Within that ongoing exchange, Christophe and Stanislav bring personal expression and solidarity together. Their partnership offers a moving image of creative persistence—the determination to give experience a voice, to stand beside others, and to keep making room for art.
