“Rescue Me” Acrylic by Cher Pruys.

The warmth, love and caring appears to be mutual in this touching scene of a young lad and his new rescue pup.

Her inspiration comes from the seemingly mundane moments of everyday life. She has an eye for finding beauty in ordinary things, and her passion for detail allows her to bring these objects to life on canvas. Cher uses a combination of soft brushstrokes and strong line work to create her art, allowing her to create complex compositions that tell a story. Her vibrant colors add to the realism of the pieces, while her unique perspective brings her subjects to life.

Having been born in Regina and lived in various places, including Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, and Fort Frances, she now resides in Devlin, on the banks of the Rainy River, with her husband Mark, four dogs, and two cats.

Cher Pruys has always had a passion for art and drawing. She primarily works with acrylic, watercolor, and gouache, though she also has experience with oil paints and pencils. Despite her lack of formal training, Cher’s skill has earned her recognition in 259 International Exhibits and numerous shows. As such, she has won 309 awards for her artwork and has had 15 solo exhibits.

“London Calling” Acrylic by Cher Pruys.

This scene in the middle of London evokes found memories and one can almost feel the ambience of the place bathed in the lights from the vehicles, street lights and bridge!

In addition to her painting, Cher also enjoys making fused glass art and teaching piano and guitar. Her artwork has been featured on the cover of 3 books, 32 magazines, and over 180 international publications. Cher’s work has found a home in both public and private collections worldwide.

Cher Pruys’ creative process is an amalgamation of her two passions, photography and painting. She loves how painting allows her to ‘find the soul of her subject’ and manipulate reality with a 3-dimensional look on a flattened surface.

She begins by picking her subject and researching it in depth to become familiar with all the details. A detailed sketch follows this. Then, when she’s happy with it, she starts layering paint, finding that the shapes eventually become well-defined and the edges softened with each layer added. Her works combine careful observation and intuitive creativity, making her art unique.

“Show Stopper” Acrylic by Cher Pruys.

This beautiful 1956 Thunderbird is a real show stopper!

From classic cars to lovable puppies, she creates stunning and captivating pieces that draw viewers in. One of her most notable works is “Show Stopper,” a 1956 Thunderbird captured in all its beautiful glory. Pruys plays with light and color to make this iconic bird look even more special. Another one of her popular pieces is “Rescue Me,” a tender scene of a young boy and his newly adopted puppy, filled with love and warmth. Finally, “London Calling” takes viewers to the heart of London, where Pruys captures the city’s vibrant atmosphere under its streetlights and bridge lights.

Overall, Cher Pruys creates unique and beautiful pieces that bring everyday moments to life. Her artworks will captivate viewers and evoke cherished memories.
