Featured star of the week in her imagination and creativity in creating abstract.

“I see the world with different eyes. Due to my imagination and creativity, I transform concrete objects into abstract ones, which is how my sometimes unusual pictures come about.” – Monika Bendner
WAS THERE A PIVOTAL MOMENT WHEN YOU DECIDED TO FOLLOW YOUR PATH AS AN ARTIST?
“Even as a child, I was creative and saw creative forms in everything. Later I was only able to do art in my free time. When my daughter grew up, I became artistically active again and took many courses to educate myself further.”
CAN YOU DESCRIBE YOUR WORK FOR US?
“Today my work consists of the many learned techniques that I have acquired. First comes the idea, then the draft, then, depending on the variable, silhouettes – photographs, which are then partly painted with acrylic paints and nail polish. Finally, these works are photographed again and further processed on the PC, which is later completed in photoshop, on canvas or acrylic.”
WHAT DOES YOUR WORK AIM TO SAY?
“I create my art from everyday life; I see abstract forms in the things surrounding me. I am fascinated by clear, simple forms, which I then transform again until I like them, from which I create cycles and metamorphoses.”
HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR WORK FITS WITHIN SOCIETY IN OUR PRESENT TIMES?
“In my opinion, my works fit very well in hotels, public buildings, or houses in the Bauhaus style.”
WHEN LOOKING BACK, WHAT ARTWORKS COME TO MINDA THAT MOST RELATE TO YOUR LIFE STORY?
“Despite my preference for the plain, calm and simple, Art Nouveau inspired me with its romantic, coherent forms, nothing stands alone in the room, but I also find Tiffany lovely with the special glass, held together with stained glass. I’ve given up on “wild painting” with acrylic paints; everything calms down until I’m finally satisfied.”
WHO ARE YOUR BIGGEST INFLUENCES?
“My influence is myself; I am inspired by nature, light, moods, everything that touches me, especially music.”
“Die Glücksbotinnen” by Monika Bendner – Star of the Week
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS?
“I’m always creative; I don’t need a special occasion for that.”
WHAT VISUAL REFERENCES DO YOU DRAW UPON IN YOUR WORK?
“I go back to my daily life, and when I manage to sink into my inner world, then I completely switch off the outside world, and often afterward, I don’t even know how the work came about; I was then in a completely different world.”
ANY UPCOMING PROJECTS?
“Many galleries write to me, and I design my work for them.”
