Top Featured Artist | ArtTour International NY.

Let us join our Star of the Week on her journey to create a beautiful world through her paintings and photographs.

“Art is about sharing your magical world and let people be a part of it.

Art brings people together and gives them a breath, a moment of poetic stillness.

The world needs art.”

– Camilla Fransrud

WAS THERE A PIVOTAL MOMENT WHEN YOU DECIDED TO FOLLOW YOUR PATH AS AN ARTIST?

“I believe that art chooses us; we don’t choose art. Artistic creation has always been a big part of my daily life, whether through photography or painting. And for a few years ago, I made a decision to listen to my inner voice and heart and share with others the joy and peace. When I create art, I took my hobby to another level, and I have never regretted it.”

CAN YOU DESCRIBE YOUR WORK FOR US?

“I create abstract paintings; landscapes and seaside paintings are close to my heart. I paint figures/portraits sometimes. I use chalk, mixed media, palette knife to get texture, and I paint acrylic. I love to paint on a large canvas.”

WHAT DOES YOUR WORK AIM TO SAY?

“I attempt to evoke a sense of poetic stillness in my art. I will try to give you a space to dwell, a place to enjoy and simply be you. I always search for the lights in my paintings, and I will give the spectator a sense of calm and peace. To tell that our world is magical, and we need to take care of it together.”

HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR WORK FITS WITHIN SOCIETY IN OUR PRESENT TIMES?

“I think my art is an expression of what it means to be a human and helps us understand our world. I hope that my work can bring people together from different communities and communicate from afar. Art creates wellness in our busy day – to day – lives and gives the viewer a place to breathe and be. The world needs art, so we can understand each other better on a deeper level and feel some joy in our world.”

WHEN LOOKING BACK, WHAT ARTWORKS COME TO MINDA THAT MOST RELATE TO YOUR LIFE STORY?

“I believe there are many artworks that I can relate to my life story, but I can list up to three. First is “Poppies” by Claude Monet, which brings back good memories of my childhood with my grandparents. The second is “Warship in a heavy storm” by Ludolf Bakhuizen; I can relate it to all the storms we go through in life. And the last picture is “Rocky Reef on the Seashore” by Caspar D. Friedrich is so beautiful, and he loves nature like me; It is so calm and peaceful and reminds us that we have to notice that the world around us is so gorgeous if we take the time to notice it! ”

WHO ARE YOUR BIGGEST INFLUENCES?

“My biggest influences are Turner, Monet, and Renoir – I like how they depicted the light in their painting. Georgia 0’keefe and Munch are also big inspirations to me, but I have to say that my grandfather is truly my biggest influencer, just because of the person he was. He filled my world with art and love. The world was a magical place to live in because of him.”

CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS?

“It is a bit difficult to describe my creative process; it is a matter of inspiration than conscious planning. My day always starts with coffee and music, and I have a spectacular view of the sea, which is my biggest inspiration.
I can get inspired by the light, get an idea from the color of a blanket or pillow, or by walk in nature with my dog.
My art studio is always tidy, and I use music to come in the right state of mind; then, I start with a sketch and mix my own palette. Nature is important to me, and I get ideas from a leaf or a tree.”

WHAT VISUAL REFERENCES DO YOU DRAW UPON IN YOUR WORK?

“I use my photo camera and create a mood board with different images, text, and textures to visualize. I use music, books and poetry, and sketches as references. I use my imagination.”
